We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Planner to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping our client communities by developing and implementing comprehensive plans, policies, and programs. You will collaborate with government officials, community members, and industry professionals to drive sustainable and coordinated development.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis on land use, zoning, transportation, and environmental impact.
- Develop and implement city plans, policies, and programs in alignment with community goals.
- Collaborate with government agencies, community groups, and private developers to ensure strategic development.
- Evaluate development proposals and provide recommendations to regulatory bodies.
- Lead community engagement initiatives to gather input and feedback from residents.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging urban planning issues.
- Assist Senior Planners and Engineering staff with:
- TIP/STIP tracking for municipal clients.
- Preparation of Transportation, Capital Facilities, Safety, RCO, and other Comprehensive Plan elements.
- Researching, preparing, and presenting funding strategies for client projects.
- Reviewing and summarizing potential funding opportunities.
- Travel demand modeling and traffic count analysis.
- SEPA process and documentation.
- Other related projects as needed.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about urban planning and committed to serving our clients with integrity and enthusiasm. Ideal qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Architecture, or a related field.
- Two years of experience in municipal planning or a related field.
- Familiarity with municipal comprehensive planning concepts and public meeting processes.
- Strong knowledge of land use regulations, annexation, and zoning codes.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in researching municipal codes and navigating ordinances.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Motivated, positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to interpret and apply municipal regulations and codes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to self-learn industry software.
Compensation & Benefits
HLA offers a competitive pay range of $5,800 - $8,500 based on experience and work hours, along with a comprehensive benefits package, including:
