Yakima - DID CIPP Rehabilitation

The City of Yakima inherited original Drainage Improvement District (DID) systems from Yakima County, and many are no longer functioning as intended due to the conversion of agricultural land to residential/commercial development.  This project rehabilitated approximately 4,000 linear feet of deteriorated DID pipelines in three locations within the City; Plath Avenue, Midvale Road, and Powerhouse Road.  Upon evaluating groundwater levels through monitoring wells installed during the design phase, it was determined these segments of DID pipeline were used primarily for conveyance rather than irrigation and groundwater collection through infiltration.  Rehabilitation by Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) provided a cost-effective solution, expediting project timelines and minimizing surface restoration.

The project was completed on time, under budget, and prior to the 2020 irrigation season.
